This first graphic image is of the remaining facade of the old East Block of College Buildings, left from the ravages of World War 2 and the subsequent demolition that made way for the erection of the present building. College Buildings was the home of the Ayres family, who were the Caretakers or Superintendants from the early 1900's. It was where Grandad Ayres was so badly injured when "College" took 2 bomb hits, that he died from his injuries and his grandson and several others also received injuries, on the night of 21st. October 1940 - in the height of Hitler's Blitz on London. |
